CPR All Stars - Year Review

Back in early summer, a completely transformed CPR team took to pre season training; very unfit and very unsure to how their season would unfold. However, despite the team’s formation merely 5 or so months ago, CPR have enjoyed a terrific start to the season. They've been involved in 11 games and have won 9 of them, and have only been beaten once to a team who's first XI are in the 6th tier of English football. Could they ever have imagined a better start? Not a chance. 2nd in the league on goal difference with a game in hand and in the quarter finals of the league cup, proceedings have gone swimmingly for the recently formed side. CPR started off the season with little expectation, but now find themselves with League and Cup winning aspirations. It's been a tremendous opening 11 games for the black and orange striped side, and here are a few stats on how the season has panned out thus far.

CPR inflicted Hartley Whitney's only loss of the season in the opening game, in a dramatic 3-2 victory whereby McMillan scored a late winner for CPR to walk away with the spoils. CPR have arguably had the hardest schedule having also played against Wokingham & Embrook, who also suffered their only loss of the season at CPR.

Curley Park were without Dunnage, Honeywood and Lloyd-Bisley for most of the season, and the team would benefit from having a full strength team come the start of 2013. They restart their campaign on the 6th January at home to strugglers Liss Athetic, before playing Bourne Blades a week later. A game against local rivals Camberley is currently scheduled a week later. The schedule has been kind giving CPR the bottom 2 teams coming off the Christmas break, but CPR will not be taking them lightly and will look to improve their goal difference and try and build an advantage over title rivals Hartley Whitney.

Overall, CPR’s start to the season has been magnificent. There have been a few problems in defence, having leaked 31 goals from 11 games, but they’ve made up for this by hitting the back of the net an incredible 65 times. Important wins vs Hartley Whitney and Wokingham & Embrook have put CPR in an extremely good position going into the new year, and they will be looking to build on their success both in the League and in the Cup.
