Race for the title

With the Barclays Premier League season reaching its climax, it seems as if the race for the title has been whittled down to only 2 teams. Both from Manchester and both have an un-deniable hatred for each other. With their intense rivalry undoubtedly spurring them on, both Manchester United and Manchester City are endeavouring for the same prize: the Barclays Premier League trophy. But there can only be one winner, who will it be?

flair that has been key in a successful season for City
Firstly, it's good to see an extremely tight and exciting title race this season. With United currently sitting on 73 points from 30 games, and City just 3 points behind on 70 points from 30 games, the title is going down to the wire. City have gone through a recent blip in form, with their struggles on the road hindering their surge for the title. This blip has allowed United to creep up on them, allowing them to take initiative and leapfrog City at such a pivotal moment in the season. However City's home form may prove to be the decider. City have currently won 15/15 home games this season in the league, boasting an incredible 100% win record at the Etihad Stadium. If this astonishing record were to be maintained for the final few games, which include a massive game against United, than City stand a huge chance of claiming the crown off United.

Manchester City have spent big, and they've got their reward. With the signing of two exceptional flair players, Sergio Aguero and David Silva, City have developed the fire power and cutting edge needed to be title winners. The only problem is that this is a completely new scenario to what they are usually in. They haven't got the 'been there, done that' experience that rivals United possess, and that could prove to be vital in the run in. United have the experience and their team are full of players who have numerous titles to their name. To name just a few; Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs will undoubtedly provide vital experience in which could give United the edge in the run in. In addition to this experience they have the genius that is Wayne Rooney in their ranks, and his influence up front may be the driving force behind their search for a 20th league title win.

could prove vital in the run in
But in my belief, experience and form will prove to be irrelevant. On the 36th game week, City host United at the Etihad Stadium, and this could well be the game in which separates the winners from the losers. In my opinion whoever wins the game will win the Premier League. City's formidable and convincing home record will undoubtedly give them the advantage, but you can never rule Manchester United out. Time and time again, they have proved their critics wrong, which proves that they can win the English league title for an incredible 20th time. However, you can also never rule City out, and under Mancini's guidance, could defy the odds and pick up their first Barclays Premier League title.

One thing is certain, and that's the Barclays Premier League title is going right down to the wire: and it's bound to be an epic. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the climax to what is without doubt the greatest football league in the world.
