Barclays Premier League - Team of the year so far

There are many players in the Premier League that have caught the eye this year, but who will make it into my team of the year? I will announce the team I think have out performed their competition and will cover why they have deserved to be in the team.

GK - Tim Krul (Newcastle) Appearances: 21 Clean Sheets: 8 Goals Conceded: 25

Tim Krul just edges out Michelle Vorm for the number 1 shirt. He is currently having a fantastic season for the toon this year, producing a number of incredible performances which has been rewarded with the amount of clean sheets he has collected. Including a noticeable performance against Man United in addition to an array of magnificent saves this year, he has formed a formidable partnership with his back 4, commanding and leading them to great effect.

LB - Jose Enrique (Liverpool) Appearances: 21    Goals Conceded: 18    Assists: 2

Jose Enrique has been a stand out Performer in a mediocre Liverpool team this season and has been a solid regular at the back since his £6 million arrival from Newcastle in the summer. When others had been crumbling around him, Jose has often stood up tall to the task, showing the incredible maturity he has developed since his early Newcastle days. How he has not even earned a cap for Spain throughout his career is unknown to me, but if this form continues, his first cap will come in no time. Del Bosque take note.

CB - Vincent Kompany (Manchester City) PL Appearances: 19   Goals Conceded: 14    Goals: 2

Vincent Kompany has been a rock at the back for The Citizens this year and has truly come into his own this season. He has been a constant regular, but is currently spending a short spell on the sidelines after his debatable red card against Man United. Nevertheless, his influence at the back and leadership of a strong, successful City side has been extremely impressive. He has been an integral part in a City back line that boasts the greatest defensive unit in the premier league, and this is partly down to the consistence displayed from arguably the world’s best defender. Once considered a jack of all traits, now seen as one of the most feared centre backs in the world.

CB - Daniel Agger (Liverpool) PL Appearances: 17 Goals Conceded: 12 Goals: 0

A man of whom has always had the potential to become a top premier league centre back, but persistent injuries have always managed to hold him back. However like Kompany, this has been the first season where he's displayed his true talent and fulfilled his potential. The whole back line for Liverpool has been solid this year, which has been one of the few positives of a so far abysmal year for the reds. He has been a bright spark this year, and if put together, Kompany and Agger would inevitably form a formidable partnership.

RB - Micah Richards (Manchester City) Appearances: 17  Goals Conceded: 14  Assists: 6  Goals: 1

How Richards has established himself as Capello's 5th choice right back is absolutely ludicrous. He has been absolutely amazing for City this season. Richards is another part of the fierce back line that have conceded the least goals in the Premier League this season. However he has not just been defensive, his marauding runs from right back have inflicted fear in opposition left backs; being rewarded with countless assists and even a goal to show for his efforts. His attacking prowess along with his defensive power has easily established him as the best right back in the country. Capello should definitely take note.

LM - Gareth Bale (Tottenham) Appearances: 20    Goals: 7     Assists: 8

Words can't describe this Welsh talent, when off form he's anonymous, but when on form he's electrifying! Almost like a young Ryan Giggs. The lad must've had running lessons with Usain Bolt; that's how quick he is! Even when it's not his day, he can produce something out of nothing, which is a real quality. Not only is he a speed demon, but his technical ability is second to none, which really puts him up there with the best wingers in the world. If Bale can stay injury free and show even more consistency, he has the potential to be a world beater. At the tender age of 22, he has the makings of one of the best players in the world.

CM - Yaya Toure (Manchester City) Appearances: 20    Goals: 3    Assists: 6

Another player who's really impressed me since his arrival from Barcelona last season. After not watching him regularly for Barcelona (as he was mostly on the bench) I didn't really expect him to set the Premier League alight. In fact, at first I even thought his brother Kolo was a better player than him! This season he has been at the heart of all things good for Manchester City, from defensive duties to attacking play, he has been second to none. His explosive runs from midfield are also a massive threat, and during the African cup of nations his presence will be severely missed in the City midfield.

CM - David Silva (Manchester City) Appearances: 21    Goals: 5     Assists: 12

The little magician has been a pivotal figure for Manchester City this term, and his trickery and technical ability has earned him the title of the best playmaker in the Barclays Premier league. Along with Yaya Toure, the two have formed a terrific partnership in the middle of the park, and have provided countless assist for their team as well as chipping in with a number of goals. It can be argued that City's goal scoring record is mostly down to the genius play of Silva, and the fact that he cannot hold down a regular position in the Spanish national team is frightening. Silva has performed fantastically this year, but the onus really is on him to perform in the absence of Yaya Toure to the African Cup of Nations.

RM - Nani (Manchester United) Appearances: 21    Goals: 6     Assists: 8

Nani has always lingered in the shadow of former Manchester United great Cristiano Ronaldo, and I think he has never really come out of his shell. Since Ronaldo left, he has stepped up to the plate, and really performed for a United side who have been heavily criticised in recent years. Although he provides next to nothing in defence, he is a major threat to anyone in an attacking sense. Whether he's playing down the left, right or through the middle, his burst of speed and  incredible technique makes him a threat wherever he plays. Best of all, he's two footed so his unpredictability value is enhanced, making opposition defences quake in their boots whenever he picks up the ball - a true talent.

ST - Demba Ba (Newcastle) Appearances: 19    Goals: 15     Assists: 4

The striker has it all. Pace, power, strength, finishing, you name it - he has it. He's just a complete forward. The way he bullies opposition defences is almost comical at times, such is the ability that this man possesses. Whether playing upfront with a partner or by himself, he seems to produce the goods whenever it has been needed this season. His lethal finishing in front of goal has also been very impressive, and his consistent performances are also a major positive for the toon. Best of all, he arrived on a free transfer, which has proven to be an absolute bargain. Unfortunately for the toon, it has been revealed that there is a clause in his contract which allows him to leave for roughly £6million, which is surely bound to attract interest from the countries best clubs - notably Tottenham.

ST - Robin Van Persie (Arsenal) Appearances: 21    Goals: 18     Assists: 6

Was the first man that sprung to mind to fill my forward position. What a player. The man is a goal scoring machine, whether it be from left foot, right foot or even head, the man always seems to deliver. His technique reminds me of a previous Gunner, Dennis Bergkamp. however, RVP has the goal scoring ability that makes him a class above Dennis, even in his prime. He's scored an impeccable 18 goals in 21 appearances this year for the Gunners, and without him, Arsenal will certainly not be in the position they find themselves in. The only problem in recent seasons is his fitness, but this problem seems to be solved; proven by playing in every Premier league game for Arsenal this season. If Van Persie manages to maintain this level of consistency and maintain his fitness, he will certainly move to one of the world's best clubs in the future without a doubt.

Bench:

GK - Michelle Vorm (Swansea) - the £1.5 Million signing has been a valuable asset for the Swansea this season, producing a number of exquisite performances and making the number one shirt his own. Interest from big clubs such as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur is reported to be high.

DF - Fabricio Collocini (Newcastle) - The Argentine was a laughing stock when he first arrived in the premiership 4 years ago, but he has stepped up his performance since spending a season in the Championship and has never looked back.

DF - Kyle Walker (Tottenham) - The young Englishman has slowly come through the ranks and has finally established the Right back position in the Spurs side. His pace and attacking ability is a real asset for Tottenham, and he can also fill in at Centre back which is a bonus. High potential.

MF - Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle) - The Frenchman arrived from Ligue 1 in the summer and has settled really quick in the Premier League. He looks very comfortable in central midfield and has impressed time and time again. Makes Newcastle tick but recent injury is a massive blow for them.

MF - Aaron Ramsay (Arsenal) - Perhaps unlucky in not being in my starting 11, but narrowly misses out to the genius that is David Silva. Under the pressure of the departure of Cesc Fabregas and the prolonged injury to Jack Wilshere, he has showed incredible maturity and has put in a majority of high quality performances for Arsenal this year.

FW - Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) - The Croxeth born Rooney has been his impeccable self once again this term, and his deeper role allows his to get on the ball and create for the likes of Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez. Has chipped in with 13 goals this season and is always a constant threat to the opposition defence. Would be in the starting line-up were it not for the quality displayed by Ba and Van Persie.

FW - Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea) - The fact that he is the only Chelsea man i have picked out of the 18 has showed Chelsea's decline this season. Sturridge has proved to be a star man for Chelsea this term, with his brightness meaning he can torment full backs and score goals. Has impressively chipped in with 9 goals this term from wide positions and will soon break into the England team without a doubt.

Plus a mention to the whole Swansea team, who i think have lightened up the Premier League this year. Their Barcelona style of football is a pleasure to see, and their results have been a reflection on how they've played. Bravo.
