Liverpool have been struggling in recent years, with a somewhat confusing transfer policy contributing to their rapid downfall. With the team performing so under par in the Premier League, it could be up to the talented youngsters to take control and rescue Liverpool from the depths of the relegation zone. There are many youngsters who have the potential to be key figures at the club in a few years; with the list below containing those that I think can contribute a lot to the first team in the future. Once upon a time, no trouble used to revolve around the pre match handshakes, with each and every participant willing to respect each other and shake the hands of their opponents. However, controversy has surrounded the pre match handshake in recent times. Firstly, the Suarez-Evra received massive widespread controversy with an unnecessary reluctance to shake each others hands, which was quickly followed by the Terry-Ferdinand saga which took a very similar course. Although it is only the smallest of minorities giving pre match handshakes a bad name, the question still remains unanswered; should the pre match handshake be abolished? Curly Park opened their league campaign and maintained their winning streak with a spirited 3-2 victory over Hartley Whitney. CPR decided to keep a winning formula and therefore went into the game with an unchanged team. Since Manchester United decided to not renew the 32 year olds contract, Owen once again found himself searching for a new club in the summer. Many rumours circulated throughout the summer, with Sunderland, Everton and even a controversial return to Liverpool reported to be possible destinations for the former Newcastle man. However it was Stoke who eventually won the race for Owen's signature, meaning the 32 year old front man will link up with his good friend and former England team mate, Peter Crouch, upfront at the Britannia. Liverpool have had a lot of trouble in past transfer windows, splashing out the cash with little reward. Expensive acquisitions such as Carroll and Downing have arrived and performed well below par, and in my opinion urgently need replacing. Liverpool have less than 2 days in order to wrap up any possible signings, and if they want to finish in the top 4 for the first time for 3 years, this is what I think they need to do. 1. SELL Jay Spearing Jay Spearing just defines mediocrity. I love the passion and energy that Jay brings every time he wears the red shirt, but sadly his footballing ability is not up to scratch. I recently had a debate with one of my mates (who happens to be a United fan) about who has made the biggest impact so far; Eden Hazard or Shinji Kagawa. Both players arrived at Chelsea and Manchester United respectively with big reputations, and an expectation to perform and make an impact right from the off. With both impressing so much in their short careers at their new clubs, this question was raised: Who would you rather have, Kagawa or Hazard? Kagawa lit up the Stretford end in his home debut against Fulham First things first, both Kagawa and Hazard look like very exciting players. Both have very similar qualities; quick, creative, young, and a knack of scoring and supplying goals. Both have also stamped their authority on games played so far, and have looked extremely impressive; particularly when in possession of the ball.
