Surprise teams of the season

THE GOOD

Everton (4TH)
Everton's in form Belgian, Marouane Fellaini
The Toffees, as I have mentioned in a previous post, have been extremely impressive this season. They have been threatening to return to the top 4 for years, but this finally looks like the season when all their hard work comes together. For me, Everton have always been built around a solid defence and a mediocre attack. But with the new found brilliance of Marouane Fellaini in an attacking role, as well as the added attacking talent of Miralles and Jelavic, The Merseyside club have finally looked like possessing a very good attacking force. Lying 4th after 17 points from 10 games, if they can carry on this form and maintain it throughout the duration of the season, Everton could have a massive chance in returning to the Champions League at Arsenal's expense.

West Brom (5TH)
Steve Clarke has led his West Brom team to 5th in the League
I predicted West Brom to be flirting with relegation throughout the season, but they have surprised me with their performances thus far. Although they don't have any stand out players, an attack consisting the likes of Odemwingie, Long, Lukaku and Brunt have proven to be too much for opposing clubs to handle. The Albion also posses a solid defence, having only conceded 11 goals in 10 games, which has contributed to the 17 points they have picked up from 10 games. With West Brom brushing aside Southampton on Monday night, The baggies leapt to 5th in the table which seems incredible from a team that were once known as a 'ping pong' club for their relegations and promotions to and from the Premier League.

THE BAD

Darren Bent's goalscoring talent is being wasted at Villa Park

Aston Villa (17TH)
I thought this season they would return to being a top half club who regularly contested for a spot in Europe, but it really hasn't turned out like that for the Birmingham club, nothing in the slightest. In fact, Villa have gone further down hill, being unable to utilise their strengths and they now look a team in real trouble. For me, Darren Bent has to play. He has the natural ability to score goals, and if you give him a chance; he will hit the back of the net. By keeping someone of his talent on the bench Lambert's fire power up front is severely weakened, and if they want to rise up the table and steer themselves away from danger; the England front man must play.

Luis Suarez is good, but Liverpool must obtain the services
of a goalscoring striker if they are going to be successful
Liverpool (12TH)
I seriously believed that this season would be the season that Liverpool return to the top 5. However, their failure in the summer transfer window has evidently eliminated any chance of this occurring. Liverpool simply do not have enough options up front to contend with the big guns. Luis Suarez is definitely in the top 5 best strikers in the league, but it seems as if Liverpool are reliant on his performances if they are going to win games. Suarez's finishing is often erratic, and he just can't score enough goals to guarantee success. Although there is a January transfer window coming up, even if Liverpool do bolster their attacking options up front with a top quality signing the damage seems already done.
