Tottenham 'move ahead' of Man United in pursuit of La Liga outcast
Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the Premier League's most active clubs in the current transfer window.
Jose Mourinho's side have made three signings, with Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart all joining the north London outfit.
But Mourinho is still looking to bolster his squad and, according to ESPN, he is eyeing a sensational move for former Spurs star, Gareth Bale.
The Portuguese manager has reportedly told Daniel Levy that his side needs attacking reinforcements to ease the goal-scoring burden on Harry Kane, with efforts to negotiate a deal with Real Madrid for Bale having already taken place.
Bale is also drawing attention from Manchester United, but they are pursuing other options at this stage.
The Welshman was once one of the best players in the world but is now finding first-team opportunities heard to come by at Madrid.
He played just 20 time in the 2019/20 season, scoring three times.
Bale has been told he can leave the club, with Real Madrid ready to accept an £18m for his services.
The 31-year-old is willing to leave Spain for pastures new with Euro 2020 taking place at the end of the season.
It seems a return to the Premier League is on the horizon for Bale, with Spurs currently leading the race.
