Valero Texas Open Betting Tips:

2016 Valero Texas Open Champion, Charley Hoffman

Betting Tips:

Charley Hoffman - 20/1:
The reigning champion comes into this week with a great chance of retaining his crown. Although he missed the cut last week, he had been in goof form before that with a good showing at the Masters, as well as high finishes in Texas and Florida. But it's his recent course form that sets him apart from the rest of the field. His last six starts have been 1st, T11, T11, T3, T11, T2. Expect him to be a factor on Sunday.

Billy Horschel - 25/1:
Horschel is on this list on virtue of his history at this event. Regardless of any form in recent weeks, he always seems the play well here. He has four top 5's in his last three starts, and has had also recorded a T13 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a T4 at the Honda Classic in recent weeks.

Brendan Steele - 25/1:
The American returns to the event where he won his first PGA Tour title; six years ago in the 2011 edition. He has made the cut in five of the last six editions, including that win in 2011 as well as a T8 in 2015 and a T13 last year. Steele has also been in great form this year; he is on a streak of sixteen consecutive cuts made with eleven of those going for Top 30 finishes.

Ryan Palmer - 33/1:
The American had a dismal run of results in the first three months of the year, but showed signs of breaking that rut with a T11 last week at the RBC Heritage. Palmer also has great form in this event: he has made his last five cuts here, including a T6 in 2015 and a T4 last year.

Zach Johnson - 40/1:
How a golfer of Zach Johnson's calibre is 40/1 in any PGA Tour event is dumbfounding to me. The guy is a twelve time PGA Tour Champion and two time Major winner for crying out loud! He has been steady in his last three starts here, finishing T24, T20 and T6. Despite a poor showing a the Masters he had been in good form prior to the event, having battled his way to the last 16 in the Dell Techonologies Match Play. At those odds he would be well worth putting money on this week.

Daniel Summerhays - 60/1:
Summerhays also has very good odds considering his past results at the event. He has made his last five cuts at the Valero Texas and has finished well in all of them, including three consecutive top tens between 2013-2015 and a T13 finish last year. Worringly, he is in very poor form (which explains his odds), having finished no better than a T46 in his last seven starts. But at 60/1 he could well be worth a punt this week.
