Liss Athletic 1-14 CPR All Stars
* I did not attend the game today due to illness, all information is based on those that attended and participated in the game on the CPR team.
CPR's next test was an away trip to rock bottom Liss Athletic, who CPR demolished 9-0 in the reverse fixture back in January.
Liss had endured a torrid time in the league this year, not being able to pick up a single point prior to this game, as well as leaking 26 goals in 8 games.
The team lined up as follows:
GK: Kevany LB: Finlay CB: Ross CB: Honeywood RB: Marsh CM: Adolphous CM: Rolt LM: Parslow RM: Lloyd-Bisley CF:Dunnage ST : Rice
Subs: McMillan
Despite going into the game overwhelming favourites, CPR still had to do a job, with their task made harder by a long list of absentees. Goggin, Stroud, Barby,Hastings , Nott and Morris were all unavailable for numerous reasons, leaving CPR’s strength in depth severely weakened.
Due to not being at the game, I cannot provide an in depth analysis on the games events. However what I can tell you, is that judging by the score line, it was destruction.
A rampant CPR side clinically disposed of the leagues whipping boys, adding 14 more goals to their impressive goal scoring tally, with 6 different goal scorers.
McMillan (5)
Lloyd-Bisley (3)
Rice (2)
Finlay (2)
Dunnage (1)
Parslow (1)
Amongst the goals were McMillan, who unsurprisingly added a further 5 to his impressive goal scoring tally, Dunnage, who supposedly scored a 40 yard screamer and Rice, who scored his first goal for 112 days (since scoring a hat trick vs Camberley Boys on the 4th November), a drought that lasted 7 games.
Man of the Match went to Alex Finlay, who would undoubtedly be pleased to have notched 2 goals in the romp, taking his season goal tally to 3.
Although Liss are not a team who were ever likely to cause CPR problems, the result may turn out to be the most significant of the season.
Not only does it send out an intimidating message to CPR's rivals, but the score line also works wonders for the teams goal difference, who now have a goal difference of +37.
The game was also the only one to be played in the league today, meaning that CPR have managed to extend their advantage at the top of the table to 6 points having played a game more then 2nd placed Hartley Whitney.
Next week CPR welcome 4th placed FC Bracknell to the Fortress, and the All Stars would be looking to preserve their unbeaten streak in the league to 10 games.
