Fabio Capello Resignation - My views

The first instalment in a couple of days is based around Fabio Capello and his resignation from the England Managerial spot. Once again there has been a lot of controversy revolving around this topic and there have been questions surrounding Fabio Capello's resignation. But, did he make the right decision?

Personally, I have serious concerns about England's position going into Euro 2012. Without a captain and a manager, England couldn't find themselves in a worse position and have serious problems to resolve in a short period of time, with the Euro's rapidly approaching: only 4 months away. The English FA have handled the Terry incident extremely poorly, putting England's hopes and dreams of ending just over 40 years of hurt by not winning a major trophy under serious jeopardy.

Fabio Capello resigned adter a tense 6 hour meeting
with the English FA

The FA should’ve let Capello deal with the situation how he wanted to, without outside influence or anyone affecting his decision. If the FA wanted to take matters into their own hands, what's the point in having a manager in the first place? It's completely insulting to Capello's outstanding managerial career, who has impressed throughout his managerial career using an Alex Ferguson sort of style whilst in charge of the world’s best clubs, most notably Juventus and Real Madrid. It's not surprising at all that Sir Alex himself was one of the first to back Capello during the affair - and rightly so.

Yes, Fabio Capello failed to motivate a clearly Lavoisier England side in the summer of 2010, and yes he may have to take a majority of the blame for an abysmal series of performances. But the stats don't lie. Capello had a 67% win record whilst been in charge of England, with 28 of his 42 games in charge seeing England walk away with their pride in tact, in addition to 8 draws and 6 losses. This win % puts him on top of the prestigious list of former England managers, effectively making him the most successful England manager of all time. Are people a bit unhappy that he's left the England coach position now?

The incident revolving John Terry led to Capello's resignation

If any other England fans feel the same concerns - you are not alone. It is frightening, the prospect of having 4 months to appoint a manager and get the players to fit into his style of play. Although Capello failed with England in the World Cup where his side were on the wrong end of a 4-1 trouncing from Germany, he still should’ve led England's charge in winning their first major trophy in just over 40 years.

His resignation is a massive blow to England as a whole, and the FA should be ashamed in how they've acted over the Terry incident. They must be held responsible for the shambles that they have inflicted on the England set up. They can either sit back and watch further proceedings, or they can continue to take matters into their own hands and try and install a renewed hope into this dejected England side. However if England fail at the Euro's than there will only be one culprit: The FA.

After that negativity, I am fully optimistic that England can defy the odds and mount a serious threat to the rest of Europe in the summer. No matter what happens, no matter how badly we screw up, and no matter how embarrassing our national side is, we should all rejoice and back the England team in ending our 40 years of hurt.

COME ON ENGLAND!
