The England job vacancy - My main candidates
Since Wednesday, England have been manager less. After a dispute with the English FA and neither party content with standing down, Fabio Capello resigned after a tension filled meeting with the FA - leaving the England job vacancy open. This has created a national dispute debating who would be the correct candidate to choose as the next England manager. But who would I choose? I outline my views on who, in my opinion, would be the most suitable man to take the job and attempt to establish England as one of the most feared teams on the international stage again.

Harry Redknapp is leading a long list of candidates for The England job |
Firstly, I'm quite disappointed in the manner that Capello left the job. I know I outlined this in my previous post, but I'm passionate about this topic. Like I previously stated, his win record of 67% is a worthy statistic, accompanied by his passion for the game - making him a terrific manager. However he lost his support after the infamous 2010 world cup, and lost confidence from most of the public. After his resignation, England need a new manager, a manager who can take the bull by it's horns and really influence a clearly over rated England contingent.
You see, what Harry Redknapp brings to the table is unique. He possesses the man management ability that very little managers in the world have at their disposal. What he lacks in intelligence is countered by his incredible skill to get the best out of players; helping them reach their full potential.
Harry Redknapp has been pivotal in Gareth Bale's success |
Take Gareth Bale for instance. After being brought from Southampton for a fee in the region of £5 million, he arrived at the club with high expectations - but failed to impress. After going 20 starts without a win in a Tottenham shirt, he was verging on being branded a laughing stock and Harry was considering selling him. But he stuck by him, gave him the confidence and gave him the belief he needed to reach his full potential. Now look at him, he has now become one of the worlds most feared wingers, and both Gareth and Tottenham have reaped the rewards. This is mostly down to Harry, and now it's time to reinstall the same belief and confidence he's done in the domestic stage, and prove his worth and managerial talent on an international level.
But will Harry get the job? In my opinion I believe the FA will most certainly offer him the job, but his ties with Spurs may restrict him from fully dedicating his time and effort to the England cause. Although he has said he will love to manage England , I can't see him taking the job as manager just yet. So plan B may take place, and there is only one other candidate worthy in my opinion....

Mourinho would certainly be an interesting appointment by the English FA to fill the manager vacancy |
And that man is Jose Mourinho. No one matches the charisma and passion he brings to the touchline week in week out. His fearless character and extravagant personality made him a hit when managing Chelsea , where he established himself in this stint as one of the world’s top managers. After winning the Champions League with an unfancied Porto side in 2004, in addition to 2 premier league titles and other domestic trophies, his CV reflects the passion he shows as a manager. Other than Harry, he is the only man I can see as England manager. Picture it, Jose patrolling the touchline, contesting every decision and oozing charisma in every press conference. Would be absolutely incredible and his appointment would certainly be an exciting time to be an Englishman.
So, in my opinion - there's only two men for the job. Harry Redknapp is the outstanding British candidate, but if all else fails with Harry, I believe the FA should turn to Mourinho, who like Redknapp has previously said he'd love to manage
