CPR All Stars 7-1 CSA 07
Curley Park went into their first cup game of the season after not playing the previous two weeks, but this did not affect them as they smashed 7 past a hapless CSA 07 defence; and in turn extended their winning streak to 4 games.
The team lined up as follows:
GK: Kevany LB: Barby CB:Hastings CB: Nott RB: Ross CM: Rolt CM: Adolphous LM: Parslow RM: Stroud CF: Rice ST : Lloyd- Bisley
Subs: McMillan, Finlay
The only change from previous games was Ross replacing the ineligible Marsh at right back, with the former making his full debut for CPR in the process.
The game started a little cagey as neither side could exert their authority on the game, but at about the 10 minute markCurley Park began to get into their stride.
After a couple of wasted chances in the opening 10 minutes, Stroud raced down the right and squared the ball to Rice, who had the easy task of tapping the ball home from around 3 yards.
CSA 07 looked a little deflated after conceding the opening goal, and the Premier division side then went through a completely dominant spell until half time. But they were struggling to put the ball in the back of the net, with Stroud, Lloyd-Bisley and Rice squandering some good chances.
Lloyd-Bisley then limped off with a nasty swollen ankle, and was replaced by McMillan; who made an instant impact. Rice and Stroud combined well down the right and the latter rounded the keeper and laid it on a plate for McMillan to double CPR's tally.
CPR continued to apply the pressure and refused to rest on their laurels, with McMillan going close and Stroud and Rolt both striking the woodwork.
It was only a matter of time until CPR made it 3, and Parslow did so with another tap in 15 minutes before the break.
CPR then added another before half time and effectively closed off the tie 5 minutes before the break as they made it 4-0. Parslow stormed down the left wing and crossed to perfection; and Stroud made no mistake this time as he headed the ball beyond the reach of the CSA 07 keeper and into the top left hand corner of the net.
Both sides got a bit heated towards the end of the half, with Rolt getting booked for the home side, and the CSA 07 winger also receiving a booking after he tried to chop down Nott.
After the half time break CPR immediately extended their lead further, with Rice showing typical composure from the penalty spot, as he coolly tucked in the resulting penalty after Stroud had been cynically chopped down in the box.
But CSA 07 never gave up, and they were rewarded for their efforts when their centre back got on the end of a corner. The defender evaded the pressure being applied by Finlay and he expertly diverted the ball into the top corner and past the hapless Kevany.
Nott also found himself in the book to mark CPR's second booking of the game, as he cynically pulled back an opposition attacker in order to cleverly break up a threatening CSA 07 counter attack.
Adolphous, who had previously wasted two earlier long range efforts, seemed to find his range on his third attempt; but he watched in despair as his effort cannoned off the crossbar and away from danger.
Stroud later took his tally to 2 after heading in aHastings corner, and Parslow also got on the score sheet with arguably the best goal of the game. Finlay, who was impressive when coming on, ghosted past the opposing defence and put in a perfectly weighted ball into the path of Parslow, who curled the ball exquisitely into the far corner of the goal.
CPR had the ball in the net just before the end of the game but Stroud was denied his hat trick after the ball was controversially judged to have gone out of play, to his evident disappointment.
But there were no further goals and CPR's 100% start remained in tact with what was in effect a stroll in the park. They also booked their place in the last 16 of the league cup, and based on this performance they will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with.
They could've and probably should've scored more goals, but by smacking in 7 goals, albeit against a side in the division lower, further emphasises the threat they pose up front.
Man of the match went to Stroud, but once again credit has to go to each and ever CPR player; all of which put in great performance in order to emphatically turn over lower league opposition.
Considering CPR only formed at the beginning of the season, their achievements so far are little short then remarkable. They've managed to jell very quickly, and their delightful passing football and team work combined have been pivotal in their early season success.
