What Liverpool NEED to do before the end of the transfer window

Image
Liverpool have had a lot of trouble in past transfer windows, splashing out the cash with little reward. Expensive acquisitions such as Carroll and Downing have arrived and performed well below par, and in my opinion urgently need replacing. Liverpool have less than 2 days in order to wrap up any possible signings, and if they want to finish in the top 4 for the first time for 3 years, this is what I think they need to do. 1. SELL Jay Spearing Jay Spearing just defines mediocrity. I love the passion and energy that Jay brings every time he wears the red shirt, but sadly his footballing ability is not up to scratch. Wolves and Bolton have been linked with a £3 million bid for the out of favour midfielder, and I think that'll be a great deal for Liverpool if that transfer is completed. Charlie Adam could be on his way out of Anfield 2. SELL Charlie Adam Charlie Adam was good at Blackpool, but he has never shown that class in a Liverpool shirt. He has fallen down the pec...

Hazard or Kagawa?

Image
I recently had a debate with one of my mates (who happens to be a United fan) about who has made the biggest impact so far; Eden Hazard or Shinji Kagawa. Both players arrived at Chelsea and Manchester United respectively with big reputations, and an expectation to perform and make an impact right from the off. With both impressing so much in their short careers at their new clubs, this question was raised: Who would you rather have, Kagawa or Hazard? Kagawa lit up the Stretford end in his home debut against Fulham First things first, both Kagawa and Hazard look like very exciting players. Both have very similar qualities; quick, creative, young, and a knack of scoring and supplying goals. Both have also stamped their authority on games played so far, and have looked extremely impressive; particularly when in possession of the ball. Their play making qualities have been instrumental in their respective teams performances thus far, with Kagawa and Hazard's intelligence and fl...

Predictions for the forthcoming season

Image
Pre season has come and gone, and now a new Premier League season is upon us. Manchester City go into the new season as reigning champions, whereas Chelsea and Manchester United would be looking to snatch the Premier League crown away from the blue half of Manchester. Reading, Southampton and West Ham all earned promotion back into England's top tier, and all 3 will have ambitions of maintaining their Premier League status come the end of the season. With the first round of games already been played, and some indications of how the Premier League season may turn out, I will predict how I think the Premier League will unfold this season. Predicted league positions: 1st - Manchester United Van Persie and Man United will be looking to retain the Premiership trophy and win their 20th English league title  Ferguson has been impressive in the transfer window this summer, bringing in the likes of Kagawa and Van Persie. Boosted by Kagawa’s creativity an...

Is exciting Barca youngster Liverpool bound?

Image
It is rumored that Liverpool are preparing a bid for Barcelona's talented young star, Christian Tello. Tello has found first team opportunities limited at Barcelona, and has had to make do with a role as a bit-part player. The young Spaniard is attracting attention from all across Europe, but it seems that it may well be a two horse race between Liverpool and Arsenal in the chase for his signature. Cristian Tello is reportedly moving to Liverpool Liverpool will most preferably be looking at a permanent signing for the tricky winger, but realistically a loan deal will be more of a possibility. Tito Villanova is thought to rate the youngster highly, and has been impressed by his pace and trickery on the wings; and therefore has declared that he is part of his plans. However, with Tello becoming increasingly frustrated with not nailing down a first team role, The Catalans may be tempted into accepting a deal in the region of £10 million pounds. Personally, I feel Tello will b...

Do United need RVP?

Image
Robin Van Persie announced earlier on in the summer on his website of his desire to move away from Arsenal and into a side whereby he can challenge for major honours. A month or so on, and many high profile teams have reportedly been interested in the prolific Dutch striker, including the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City . However it turns out that neither of these clubs are lodging a serious bid for Van Persie. Surprisingly it was rivals Manchester United who emerged as front runners in the race for RVP's signature, and it seems as if the Dutchman has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford. But with the world class strike force that United already have at their disposal, do they really need Robin Van Persie? Having great players such as Rooney around will take the spot-light off Van Persie There is no doubt that Robin Van Persie is a great player and last seasons stats work in his favour. But something about Van Persie tells me that he won't have the same impact a...

Olympics: GOLD RUSH!

After a slow start for team GB, the gold medals started to flow on day 5. The pair of Heather Stanning and Helen Glover got Team GB off and running, winning the women's coxless doubles in impeccable fashion, whilst also ensuring they became the first women to ever win a gold medal in a Rowing event. Bradley Wiggins followed suit almost an hour later in the same impressive manner. There was alot of pressure on Wiggins considering he had not lost a time trial all year, in addition to being crowned Tour De France winner a month prior. But Wiggins performed incredibly, winning by a huge margin of 42 seconds, ensuring he is well in the running for the sports personality of the year award which will be awarded in December. These 2 built the foundation for more gold medals to follow, and they came in a huge quantity. On the start of day 5 team GB were 21st in the medal table, 4 days later they had leapt to 3rd. An incredible achievement bearing in mind that Team GB only won a solitary gol...

One step closer to the top

Image
Charlton, Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday all have illustrious histories, with all three teams having regularly competed in England 's top division for a large chunk of their existence. But they have since fallen in stature since their glory days, having dropped down the leagues rapidly and soon found themselves a long way from top flight football. However, after threatening to do so for seasons, both Charlton and Huddersfield were promoted, with Charlton being crowned Champions and Huddersfield promoted courtesy of a nervy penalties win against Sheffield United. Both teams have a strong squad, and both would be hoping to perform to a sufficient standard this season in order to retain their position as Championship clubs. Sheffield Wednesday were the other team to be promoted, beating rivals Sheffield United for that all important second promotion spot. They too have a very strong squad, and will be looking for a comfortable mid table finish under former Cardiff and Wolve...

BPL's 3 newest additions

Image
Congratulations to Reading , Southampton and West Ham, all of which beat the competition and achieved promotion to England 's top division. But with the Premier League getting stronger and stronger, how will the three teams fare in their returns back to England 's top tier? Reading - 1st (Champions) Ian Harte has set peice expertise, but will his lack of  pace at the back be exposed? Reading eclipsed all expectation when they came from mid table to emerge victorious from the Championship. They have a very solid team, backed up by a very secure defence and pacey strikers, and both these factors will be extremely important for them in the Premier League. They have genuine goal threat from all over the pitch as well, with Ian Harte’s set piece expertise proving invaluable for them over the past few years. When I've seen them play on occasions I have also been very impressed by the strike partnership of Jason Roberts and Le Fondre, who seem to combine well and thriv...
