LFC young talent

Image
Liverpool have been struggling in recent years, with a somewhat confusing transfer policy contributing to their rapid downfall. With the team performing so under par in the Premier League, it could be up to the talented youngsters to take control and rescue Liverpool from the depths of the relegation zone. There are many youngsters who have the potential to be key figures at the club in a few years; with the list below containing those that I think can contribute a lot to the first team in the future. Jack Robinson Robinson (right) fends off Romelu Lukaku on wednesday night The 19 year old made his debut at the tender age of 16 for the Reds first team; setting the record for the youngest player to ever pull a red shirt on in the process. Although this record has recently been eclipsed by Jerome Sinclair, Robinson has gone from strength to strength. Although only appearing in a handful of games for the first team, his displays when he has played, notably against Arsenal when ...

Pre match handshake - run its cause?

Image
Once upon a time, no trouble used to revolve around the pre match handshakes, with each and every participant willing to respect each other and shake the hands of their opponents. However, controversy has surrounded the pre match handshake in recent times. Firstly, the Suarez-Evra received massive widespread controversy with an unnecessary reluctance to shake each others hands, which was quickly followed by the Terry-Ferdinand saga which took a very similar course. Although it is only the smallest of minorities giving pre match handshakes a bad name, the question still remains unanswered; should the pre match handshake be abolished? Ferdinand's reluctance to shake Terry's hand has sparked a debate whether pre match handshakes should be abolished Like I mentioned before, it's only been a couple of occurrences where there has been controversy in the pre match handshake. Controversy is inevitable wherever you look in football, and to me it’s fairly surprising that ...

Hartley Whitney 2-3 CPR All Stars

Curly Park opened their league campaign and maintained their winning streak with a spirited 3-2 victory over Hartley Whitney. CPR decided to keep a winning formula and therefore went into the game with an unchanged team. The team lined up as follows: GK: Kevany LB: Barby CB: Hastings CB: Nott RB: Marsh CM: Rolt CM: Adolphous LM: Parslow RM: Stroud CF: Rice ST : Lloyd- Bisley Subs: McMillan, Finlay, Goggin, Watson, Ross The game started off with neither side able to take a stranglehold on the game, but the football played by both sides, in particular by Hartley Whitney, was pleasing to watch. Curley Park however soon found themselves under the cosh, and numerous clearances off the line by Luke Marsh, George Hastings and Will Barby kept Hartley Whitney at bay. But Curley Park were not going to roll over and then had a good passage of play themselves, and were equally unlucky to not go into half time a goal or two up. Josh Rice and James Stroud were combining well down the...

Michael Owen - Still up to it?

Image
Since Manchester United decided to not renew the 32 year olds contract, Owen once again found himself searching for a new club in the summer. Many rumours circulated throughout the summer, with Sunderland, Everton and even a controversial return to Liverpool reported to be possible destinations for the former Newcastle man. However it was Stoke who eventually won the race for Owen's signature, meaning the 32 year old front man will link up with his good friend and former England team mate, Peter Crouch, upfront at the Britannia. But with Michael Owen enduring a torrid time with injuries for a number of years, many doubts have been raised regarding just how much Owen will provide for Stoke this season. So the question is, can Michael Owen still produce the goods at the highest level?   Michael Owen and Peter Crouch will re form a partnership they made back in their England days In my opinion, there are not many better poachers then Owen in the football world to this day. Al...

CPR All Stars 7-1 Whitchurch United

Curly Park Rangers took their goal scoring tally to 15 after just 2 games with an emphatic 7-1 mauling of visitors, Whitchurch United. The team lined up as follows: GK: Kevany LB: Barby CB: Hastings CB: Nott RB: Marsh CM: Rolt CM: Adolphous LM: Parslow RM: Stroud CF: Rice ST: Lloyd-Bisley Subs: McMillan, Morris, Finlay Curly Park went into the game high in confidence following on from their 8-3 victory the week prior, and they raced out the blocks against a lethargic looking Whitchurch outfit. Harry LB soon found himself on the score sheet in his first game of the season, heading in a flick from midfielder James Rolt to open his tally for the season. But Curley Park didn't have it their own way for the whole game, with Whitchurch threatening the Curley back 4 in clusters. Whitchurch did in fact restore parity, with Luke Marsh unable to close down the left winger, and the Whitchurch man smashed the ball towards goal, past a despairing dive from CPR keeper Charles Kevany and...
